OLD TOWN WALKING TOUR

In any travel guidebook, you can read that Estonia’s capital Tallinn is the oldest capital in northern Europe. It was first mentioned in 1154 and its Old Town is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities.

The heart of Tallinn is its Medieval Old Town, which consists of two parts: the Lower town and the Upper town (Toompea in Estonian). A walking tour through the narrow and cobblestoned streets of our Old Town with UNESCO heritage status is a must during your stay in Tallinn, so, please, do not miss this opportunity.

PANORAMIC COACH TOUR

There is so much to discover in Tallinn besides the medieval and romantic Old Town!

Our coach tour will give you an opportunity to see all the “must-see” highlights of Estonian capital. Among them: the royal Kadriorg Park and Palace, established by the Russian tsar Peter the Great, Tallinn Olympic Yachting Centre, built for Moscow Summer Olympic Games, Tallinn Song Festival Grounds - the largest and most unique place for organizing concerts and events in Estonia and the whole Baltic region; medieval monastery ruins and many other beautiful sights.

NB! The best way to get acquainted with Tallinn is to combine a coach tour with walking through the Old Town

TALLINN TOWN HALL

The most important building on the Town Hall Square has always been Town Hall, where the city government took place and ruled the town for nearly 700 years.

Tallinn Town Hall is the oldest city hall in North-Europe and the only preserved one in Gothic style.

The story of the building dates back to the 14th century and it was completed, in its current form, in 1404. The Town Hall still has its historical role of being the town's representational building and it is used for carrying out receptions and concerts.

All the necessary rooms for satisfying the needs of the magistrate can be found in the Town Hall.

During the tour we’ll visit the basement floor formerly used as storerooms, a large trading hall, treasury, the main floor with a citizen’s hall for receptions and parties, and a council chamber.

You will also meet Old Thomas, the weather vane, who has been symbolizing Tallinn since 1530

RELIGION IN ESTONIA

Estonia, historically a Lutheran Protestant nation, is today one of the "least religious" countries in the world in terms of declared attitudes, with only 14 percent of the population declaring religion to be an important part of their daily life.

Bit it was not always like this. During the tour we will visit some Christian churches as well as some spiritual and hidden places of Tallinn and talk about the history and the present religious situation in Estonia.

The MYTHS, LEGENDS and GHOSTS of TALLINN

Tallinn is one of the oldest cities in Europe, first mentioned in 1154.

A city can’t exist so long without a few dark secrets, hidden passageways, and haunted places to explore.

Many locations in Tallinn's Old Town have acquired a reputation for being haunted, and ghosts are deeply rooted in the local culture.

During our tour, you will visit the most mysterious places and hear some local legends, myths and ghost stories.

NIGULISTE MUSEUM

The Niguliste Museum is housed in St. Nicholas’ Church. During the Middle Ages, St. Nicholas’ was one of the town’s most magnificent and beautiful churches. The glory of the Hanseatic times and the prosperity of the local merchants is expressed in its valuable works of art, commissioned from the large art centres of Europe. Among the most noteworthy ones are Bernt Notke’s Dance of Death painting and the magnificent retable of the high altar from the workshop of Hermen Rode, both works of Lübeck masters from the Late Middle Ages. The core of the Niguliste Collection is made up of late-medieval altarpieces and wooden sculptures.

Before/ after the excursion, we can enjoy 30-minute traditional organ music performance (start at 16:00, only on weekends)
